In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren, inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

Finnikin of the Rock How to Ruin a Summer Vacation
Wondrous Strange Darklight

Bought:
Finnikin of the Rock
by Melina Marchetta

Library Checkouts:
How to Ruin a Summer Vacation by Simone Elkeles
Wondrous Strange (Wondrous Strange, #1) by Lesley Livingston
Darklight (Wondrous Strange, #2) by Lesley Livingston

Yay I finally received Finnikin of the Rock! :D Haven't started on it yet because I'm currently reading the last book I have left to finish from last week's In My Mailbox. Anyway, I loved Simone Elkeles' book Leaving Paradise (which has a sequel that I seriously can't wait for coming out in Nov. 2010!!), so I decided to check out her other books. The library didn't have Perfect Chemistry, sadly, but they did have all her How to Ruin series. If I like the first book, I'm gonna get the other two books. Also, I don't know much about the Wondrous Strange series; however, I hope it's good! :)

Waiting on Wednesday (1)

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Title
: The Piper's Son
Author: Melina Marchetta
Release Date: March 1, 2010 (Australia)
Publisher: Penguin Australia
Summary: Melina Marchetta's brilliant, heart-wrenching new novel takes up the story of the group of friends from her best-selling, much-loved book Saving Francesca - only this time it's five years later and Thomas Mackee is the one who needs saving.

Thomas Mackee wants oblivion. Wants to forget parents who leave and friends he used to care about and a string of one-night stands, and favourite uncles being blown to smithereens on their way to work on the other side of the world.

But when his flatmates turn him out of the house, Tom moves in with his single, pregnant aunt, Georgie. And starts working at the Union pub with his former friends. And winds up living with his grieving father again. And remembers how he abandoned Tara Finke two years ago, after his uncle's death.

And in a year when everything's broken, Tom realises that his family and friends need him to help put the pieces back together as much as he needs them.

Aww Thomas! Sounds like it's going to be another amazing book by Marchetta. Even though it's going to be released only in Australia next week, I decided to post about it anyway because I'm very excited about this one! (Hopefully it's released in the USA soon.) As stated in the summary, The Piper's Son is a continuation of Marchetta's other book Saving Francesca. It takes place 5 years later, and this time it's about Thomas Mackee. Saving Francesca was such a great book, so if you haven't read it, then you should! ;) Penguin Books Australia also has an excerpt from the The Piper's Son here. Can't wait! X3

From family/friends.

I haven't sent much postcards lately, which is why I haven't received much either. In fact, in the past two months, I think I've only sent one! The reason? I've been way more addicted to reading! So instead of spending my money on postcards and stamps, I've been spending it all on books. XD I know my postcard stash this year will be extremely low, compared to last year where I received about 200 postcards. Xp Hopefully later on in the year I will start sending again because this is one hobby that I really enjoy.

In My Mailbox #2

I seriously gotta remember to scan the postcards I've been receiving. Need to have a variety in my posts. XD Anyway...

An Abundance of Katherines Blade Of The Immortal: Legend Of The Sword Demon Chasing Brooklyn Fallen
Fat Cat Hearts at Stake The Maze Runner Uglies

Bought:
Blade Of The Immortal: Legend Of The Sword Demon by Junichi Ohsako & Hiroaki Samura

Library Checkouts:
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder
Fallen (Fallen series, #1) by Lauren Kate
Fat Cat by Robin Brande
Hearts at Stake (The Drake Chronicles, #1) by Alyxandra Harvey
The Maze Runner (Maze Runner series, #1) by James Dashner
Uglies (Uglies series, #1) by Scott Westerfeld

So I've checked out a bunch from the library this week. Already read An Abundance of Katherines, which was funny, and Fallen, which I liked more than I thought I would (so I'm looking forward to reading the sequel). Currently reading Hearts at Stake, and I'm really enjoying it. :D Been wanting to read The Maze Runner and Uglies series for awhile now, so I decided to check those out before someone else beat me to it.
And...looks like I'll have less books in my next In My Mailbox post. lol I've requested a few other books from the library, but I'm not sure when I'll get those, since the release dates for most is March. ;p Well, that's about it! (I know. I can never figure out a good way to end my posts.)

In My Mailbox #1

Captivate Looking for Alibrandi
The Mark The Pace

Bought:
The Pace (The Pace series, #1) by Shelena Shorts

Library Checkouts:
Captivate by Carrie Jones
Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta
The Mark by Jen Nadol

I've already finished them, and out of this group, I liked The Pace the most. And it was interesting reading Marchetta's first book Looking for Alibrandi. She's one of my favorite authors. Today I even ordered one of her books (Finnikin of the Rock), which was recently released in the USA, so I can't wait to receive/read it! Also, I can't wait for this coming Tuesday. Tuesday because both the library & the post office will be closed this Monday for a holiday. I need to pick up a book from the library, and I might be receiving a book in the mail. :)
