In My Mailbox #30

In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren, inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

Bought:
Evernight (Evernight, #1) by Claudia Gray
The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong

These are two of my favorite series. Now I finally own all the books that are already out for both. Yay! 'Course I bought them off eBay. That's the only place I knew of where I could get the hardcovers for cheap. ;p

Also, I received a bookmark from The Hob Blog, a Hunger Games fansite for adults, after they featured a fanart I suggested for their Fanmade Friday! :) You can see what I suggested here. (Email them an original work you created, or suggest something you found online, inspired by The Hunger Games, and they might feature it and send you a little something too!)

That's it for now. :)

Waiting on Wednesday (17)

Title: Tyger Tyger
Author: Kersten Hamilton
Release Date: November 15, 2010
Publisher: Clarion Books
Summary: Teagan Wylltson's best friend, Abby, dreams that horrifying creatures--goblins, shape-shifters, and beings of unearthly beauty but terrible cruelty--are hunting Teagan. Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn't worried. Her life isn't in danger. In fact, it's perfect. She's on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She's focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.

Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn's a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he's crazy or he's been haunting Abby's dreams, because he's talking about goblins, too . . . and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby's right.

The goblins are coming.

In My Mailbox #29

In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren, inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

Bought:
The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2) by Kelley Armstrong
A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
Stargazer (Evernight, #2) by Claudia Gray

Won:
Dreamland by Sarah Dessen
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

I won Speak, Twenty Boy Summer, and Dreamland from Marie at Marie Loves Books through her Speak Loudly giveaway. Thank you so much, Marie! :) I've already read (and loved) Twenty Boy Summer. Real glad to have a copy! Speak I just finished yesterday, and it was good. It'll be messed up if these two books get banned at that school district where they're currently being challenged, so I really hope that doesn't happen.

The other books (The Awakening, A Certain Slant of Light, and Stargazer) I bought off eBay because they were pretty cheap. I read The Awakening & Stargazer months ago, but I love those series, so I seriously needed to buy my own copies. :D (Now all I need are the first books for those series! I plan on buying them soon.) I finished A Certain Slant of Light the other day, and I loved it! Wish I had bought it sooner. I heard there will be a sequel; can't wait to read it whenever it comes out.

And that's it for this week! :)

Title: The Mockingbirds
Author: Daisy Whitney
Release Date: November 2, 2010
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Summary: Some schools have honor codes.
Others have handbooks.
Themis Academy has the Mockingbirds.

Themis Academy is a quiet boarding school with an exceptional student body that the administration trusts to always behave the honorable way--the Themis Way. So when Alex is date raped during her junior year, she has two options: stay silent and hope someone helps her, or enlist the Mockingbirds--a secret society of students dedicated to righting the wrongs of their fellow peers.

In this honest, page-turning account of a teen girl's struggle to stand up for herself, debut author Daisy Whitney reminds readers that if you love something or someone--especially yourself--you fight for it.

In My Mailbox #28

In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren, inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

Bought:
Freefall by Mindi Scott

Library:
Dark Flame (The Immortals, #4) by Alyson Noel
Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods (Underland Chronicles, #3) by Suzanne Collins

I use to be really obsessed with Evermore! I thought it was amazing. Blue Moon wasn't as great as I had hoped, but I still loved the series. Then I read Shadowland. *sigh* It was very disappointing. I'm only reading the fourth book, Dark Flame, because I want to know what happens with Ever & Damen and I want to finish the series. I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed again, so I don't have my hopes high.

Anyway, I'm enjoying Suzanne Collins's Underland Chronicles. I'm up to book 3 right now. It's for children, but sad things happen in it like in The Hunger Games. (Suzanne Collins don't play no games.) As for Freefall, I bought it because it sounds really interesting, and I've been hearing good things about it. Can't wait to read it! :)

Life Meme

Found this meme through Audrey @ holes In My brain. If you want to do this meme, at the end of each phrase, just add different book titles you've read this year. I guess you should make sure it makes some kind of sense. XD

  • In high school I was: Gamer Girl (Mari Mancusi) Actually I was Anime Girl, but that's kinda close, right?
  • People might be surprised I'm: Sorta Like a Rock Star (Matthew Quick) LOL Joking!
  • I will never be: Far from You (Lisa Schroeder) haha I know, lame! But it fit.
  • My fantasy job is: The Body Finder (Kimberly Derting) *shrugs* Maybe those cold cases.
  • At the end of a long day I need: Heavy Liquid (Paul Pope) Oh yeah..rough day.
  • I hate it when: I.N.V.U. (Kim Kang Wong) That fit nicely, eh?
  • Wish I had: Dairy Queen (Catherine Gilbert Murdock) Mmm ice cream.
  • My family reunions are: Nevermore (Kelly Creagh) Okay, really, it just rarely rarely happens.
  • At a party you'd find me: Pretty Dead (Francesca Lia Block) Yeah, parties scare me.
  • I've never been to: Jellicoe Road (Melina Marchetta) Of course I would put that! ;)
  • A happy day includes: Harmonic Feedback (Tara Kelly) Would be great everyday.
  • Motto I live by: The Sky Is Everywhere (Jandy Nelson) Well...couldn't find anything else.
  • On my bucket list: Twenty Boy Summer (Sarah Ockler) Always good to try something new, yes?
  • In my next life I want to be: Graceling (Kristin Cashore) Yes! Some cool powers or whatever!

That was harder than I thought it'll be! Took me forever! And I joked around a lot with this, but hey, that's what I do. 8D

In My Mailbox #27

In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren, inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

Bought:
Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert
Stolen by Lucy Christopher
Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman

Gift & Library:
Ruined (How to Ruin, #1-3) by Simone Elkeles
Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan

Swag:
-Mockingjay buttons (from Big Honcho Media)
-Two Darkest Powers buttons (from Kelley Armstrong)
-Two book buttons (from Arlene)
-Beautiful Darkness dog tag (picked up by Arlene at the tour)
-Smart Chicks Kick It bookmark (signed by Kelley Armstrong)

Loved Unwind so much I had to buy my own copy. Can't wait for the sequel! I've been wanting to read Ballads of Suburbia and Stolen for awhile, so I decided to buy them. From the library, checked out Firelight. I still need to read those other library books I have. ^^;

A huge thanks goes out to Arlene for getting me a copy of Ruined, since there are no Borders or Waldenbooks where I live. And also for sending me swag and getting Kelley Armstrong to sign my copy of The Reckoning at the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour! You are awesome! *glomps*

There's the pic of my signed book on the right. In a note, I asked Kelley Armstrong if she could write "Chloe/Derek FTW!" (because I love me some Chloe/Derek and nothing else came to mind) and she did! She also gave me Chloe & Derek buttons! They just look so freakin' adorable. She is one cool author. :D Thanks Kelley Armstrong and again Arlene!

Lastly, back in August, some blogs were part of the Hunger Games District Blog Tour. Each held contests for various Hunger Games merchandise, and I actually won something! Glow-in-the-dark Mockingjay buttons from Jenn's Bookshelves, who was District 8 in the tour. I was so excited when I received them. Thanks to Jenn & Big Honcho Media!

Well, that's it for now! Can't wait to see your IMM. :)
