- Bully by Penelope Douglas - This book was such a surprise. Got it for free on Amazon & didn't realize how good it would be. The author's one of my favorites now.
- The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead - This fourth book in the series was full of Sydney/Adrian action that made me really happy. Including Adrian's POV was just perfect.
- Fractured by Sarah Fine - This sequel to Sanctum had my emotions all over the place, especially that ending! Pretty sure this was the book that made me tear up the most.
- Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews - I love all the books I've read so far in the series, but this fourth book holds the top spot for me. There was so much Kate/Curran development!
- One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy - Another book that surprised me. It ended having more depth & being more emotional than I expected. Can't wait to read the sequel.
- Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout - The final book in one of my favorite series. Although I'm going to miss Alex & Aiden, I'm satisfied with the conclusion.
- Shadows by Paula Weston - An Aussie book I had been wanting to read for awhile, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
- These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner - I'm so happy the story lived up to the high expectations I couldn't help but to set when I saw the stunning cover.
- Under the Light by Laura Whitcomb - Such a beautiful conclusion for the characters that were introduced in A Certain Slant of Light. It was a perfect companion/sequel!
- World After by Susan Ee - Felt like I had been waiting forever for this sequel to Angelfall. It was worth the wait & I was completely content with the story.
Also, I want to point out something that I noticed about a month or two ago. A lot of books I liked this year had a character named Raphael. There are FOUR books in this list that have a Raphael! O_O It's no surprise that when angels are involved the archangel Raphael would be mentioned, but there was also a tortoise, nephilim, and a bouda (werehyena). And while the Raphaels weren't always the main character, they were either important or I couldn't help but to notice when they were mentioned... I don't know, I just thought it was interesting and weird that every book I read this year with a Raphael were ones I really enjoyed. ;P
These Broken Stars looks lovely. Must follow up!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your list of the year's favorites.
Here's my Best of 2013!
I was actually noticing how common the name Raphael was recently in the books I've read this year, too. And I've read three of the ones you have listed here. Gah, I can't believe I forgot Fractured and Shadows on my best of list! Those were really awesome books that I'll definitely be re-reading. But I did make sure These Broken Stars and World After were on my list. :) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat list. You've got some really amazing books on your list - These Broken Stars made my list too. I really want to read Angelfall and World After, have heard great things about that series. Happy New Year :) My TTT.
ReplyDeleteRaphaels. Nice. I need to read most of these, especially The Fiery Heart.
